Sketching 速写

This piece of work is inspired by the American artist Jackson Pollock. His unique style of drip painting stimulates me to adopt the concept of Surrealism and use the unconscious method to express music. Generally, composers have a sketch of the structure for the whole piece before they start to compose a work. However, in this work, I intentionally started without a sketch of the structure and let my unconscious mind build up the structure of the piece, which is similar to Jennifer Higdon’s “intuitive” and “instinctive” compositional process. Moreover, this work is like a sketch painting. When people listen to music, my work is Sketching in their minds.
